Young Adult Transition Program

Photo permission was granted in accordance with applicable regulations.

A transition program is available for those students who wish not to graduate at the age of 18 and continue their education through the age of 22 with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or Intellectual Disability. Individualized plans are available to meet the unique interests and needs of each student. There is a minimum of two paraprofessionals for every ten students in addition to a licensed LBS1 teacher. Related services, such as an SLP, OT, and BCBA, are assigned for consultation in each classroom. Direct services are available for those students who have the need indicated on their IEP.

LEVELS OF PROGRAMING

Our level 1 program is available for students requiring maximum support. The
programming and goals strongly focus on communication, independence, activities of
daily living, self-care, tolerance, increased waiting, and community participation.

In our level 2 programming, students focus on developing independent leisure
skills, increasing communication skills, increasing self-advocacy skills, developing
vocational skills, group and community participation, home living skills, and essential
academic skills.

Our level 3 program is geared towards students who require a blend of
academic, vocational, and essential skills. Coursework, for these students, will focus
on traditional academics, vocational development, essential home living and
community participation, developing leisure and recreational skills, and, in some
cases, college readiness.
